Jonny Bowden – My Kind of Foodie!
About a year or so ago, browsing through the food and nutritional books at a Barnes and Noble store (sipping on a latté of course!), I came across an interesting book titled “The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth”.  It was written by a guy called Jonny Bowden, and after flicking through the introduction and a few of the listed foods, I decided I had to buy it! It was twenty-five dollars well spent – it is my go-to book for distractions during study sessions, or for a lazy Sunday afternoon read!  It is evident from the introduction that Jonny Bowden cares about wholesome, natural, organic eating, where variety is indeed the spice of life (as the saying goes).  I would be lying if I didn’t say that Jonny Bowden’s philosophies about food had not rubbed off on me a little in the past year.  In a country where at every street I cross, there is a fast food outlet, it is refreshing to know that healthy eating is a practice still existent in this county, albeit, amongst only a minority of people (of course, I could be wrong about that).
It seemed appropriate that I share one of the foods from Jonny’s book, and tell you a little bit about it, why it is so healthy, and why I love it so much!
                                                         BLUEBERRIES

Yes, I love blueberries, I love their sweet and fruity taste, and I love that they are very healthy. Blueberries are considered a brain food and various studies have shown that they have the ability to protect the memory. In addition, blueberries contain compounds that are known to have antioxidant and inflammatory properties and functions. An example of such a compound is anthocyanin. Not enough, blueberries do more and are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese. Also, they are very low in fats and calorie.
Blueberries are known to be the “Superfruit”! My advice: Eat as much as you want!
